I own my life....triple ditto. One sister who studied with me from the age of 12 up.....I saw her carrying on with an elder. His truck would park in front of her house the minute her kids were off to school and would leave one minute b4 they got home. It really took someone else to mention it b4 I saw it for what it was. THey claimed to be typing the school schedules etc. Once that one blew up I went thru some issues and stood back and questioned...am I the only fool who believes in these teachings. This sister's 16yr old daughter thought she was hot. She started dating this sweet worldly boy who was earning a football scholership. My husband started studying with him. He dropped his scholshp so as not to go to college. Then he dropped the bomb to my husband that the daughter was regularly spending the night with him. At that time the society was really big on "secret lives" being exposed so we decided to talk to the girl's father. He was in a bad place because his wife would not let him deal with anything. The next day, bright and early, this woman who basically taught me the truth, was my person I looked up to was banging on our door. I opened the door and she was sooooo angry she was literally red faced and splotchy necked. She asked me if I had gone to the elders, (which is what we were supposed to do). I said, "No. I think that is your job". She was a "pillar" of the cong and then the character assasination gossip started. We paid for what they did. I was rocked to the core. Then the girl breaks up with this kid. HIs parents were furious. I had seen a LOT in the cong but this made me so disillusioned that it was the big prep for leaving for me.

What is happening in Mexico?
by ILoveTTATT ini have heard that a lot of the english congregations in mexico are shutting down... they are condensing 5 congregations into one, or in some areas even disbanding the only english congregation.
jw's who have been living in mexico for many years and probably were sheltered by being in the english congregations will now have to move to spanish congregations.... .

LongHairedGal....you made me laugh out loud when you said, "back calls". Lots of memories with that. That's what they were called by my mom and by everyone until nu lite "return visits".
I know a guy who was an elder in our cong for years. He was a pretty big partier, owned a race car etc. His wife, sweet and beautiful began to get sensitive regarding the amount of drinking going on. He divorced her (just about killed her) and he was disfellowshipped. He partied on with "worldly girls" that I now work with. Then he was reinstated and married a sister who single mindedly pursued him...a real catch for a JW. He was not just a janitor but the master of all janitors, house cleaning sisters, and window washers. Set up his business well. He retired to a JW enclave in Puerto Vallerta with a pool and housekeeper. He set up the business in his wife's name, so he could collect full social security without the income problem. I speak spanish and for the life of me I cannot imagine him going door to door in a real Mexican neighborhood. His linen white pants might get dirty. His sister is my friend and gives me updates. (she was never "in") His wife pretty much stays in the states. They barely have a friendship. I also have discussed how much of a target living in an american community can make you. Kidnapping is big business there. I just have seen that for him being a jw was always a matter of convenience for which ever agenda he had. Getting cheap workers, find a wife etc. I think Mexicans see the hypocracy.

They kicked my 89 yr old mother to the curb as well. She had written "No memorial....NO funereal!!!!" And one of her least favorite brothers whom had not visited her for years made a little speach inserted in the service meeting about how onery she was. Nice group. 64 yrs of loyalty and that's what she got.

How can anyone who is truly spiritual-minded attend Bethel and not realize it's all a scam
by sosoconfused innot that i was any better(lol - but as i sat back and thought about the time i spent there, and the things i saw i feel disgusted.. i could literally write a thousand stories about the discrimination, favortism and all out dishonest that took place but i doubt anyone would actually care.
the one thing however that really sticks out in my mind is when i was in a nice room with my roommate that he kind of inherited after his previous roommate left.
it actually had a bathroom and we both had space for real beds(not those dang trundle beds like we had in standish).. .

Many moons ago my then husband and I went to NY and took the tour. We brought along a sister who was very interested in a brother who was king of the chicken coop on the farm. As we toured Bethel they showed us a room that was furnished and my husband said "Couldn't you just move in right now?!?" I said, "Noooooaaaa". Even then still under sick thinking I saw it as pure institutionization. We visited the farm and met the very good looking guy the sister wanted. He told her he was not interested. She cried for two days. I thought it would be cool to take my dad to see how well (Nazi like) the farm was run. How that worst job was working with the pigs. You always smelled like pig methane shit. My dad wasn't a JW but he would have like the big machines, combines etc. It was impressive. Like communist Russia.

The power of denial combined with shock is a mighty power. I was hit by a van while legally crossing the street in a cross walk over a year ago. It happened so fast I just couldn't put it straight in my mind that it really happened. The medics arrived. My left elbow was bloodied and lots of scratches and contusions. I had instinctively put my arms over my head to protect against head injury. They looked me over and said I was okay, lungs, ribs, BP a little high. They sent me along my way. I went and had a pedicure bought some lunch for the hotel room. I was starting to feel sick...all over. (I'm a flight attendant so I had to call scheduling to replace me because I had been "hit by a van") I called a phone number we are given if we have a medical incident. They were sending a Dr to my hotel room. He never showed and they said he wasn't answering his pages. I went to the gift shop and bought some advil PM. I did go to sleep but when I woke up I was in really bad shape and having trouble breathing. I crawled to the phone and call the # and told them to send an ambulance. I crawled to the door to prop it open then back to the bed. My breathing was very weak and labored and I had this thought "I think I'm dying....well this isn't so bad". I was taken to the hospital and my left arm was broken, ribs all crunched up, collapsed lung and a ruptured spleen. I came very close to death but no demons or angels had anything to do with anything. I would bet in that video those gals were "on" something. That was crazy weird. I don't believe in demons..or angels...but I think that there are many more dimentions than we are aware of. Quantum physics say up to ten or more....like a loaf of cut bread...who knows. It's been over a yr and I am just getting back to work. I am financially screwed and had to get a lawyer to deal with the Cos hired Workmans Comp firm. Another lawyer to handle the accident. So if there is a settlement within my lifetime the Lawyers get 64%, Workmans Comp get paid back plus the medical(my insurance only lasted 3 months). Even after all this life altering injuries etc I'd rather be hit by another van than be a JW. Waking up every day as a JW is like that movie "Groundhog day".

When a woman JW asked me what issues I had with the borg. I said #1 women are not even 3rd class. #2 you give all power to those guys in New York and you probably don't even know their name, their history, education etc. Yet you give them permission to tell you how to dress, how to keep your yard, how you speak, what to read, where your money goes etc. They handle billions of dollars and you don't know where it goes, what political affiliations exist, off shore accts. etc. She shunned me. Which is quite alright.

" he then went on to tell us how exciting it would be to "lie down" with lions that eat straw instead of flesh, and further discussed jw kids napping with leopards, bears, and cattle.

I found out a JW friend of mine has an addiction to torturing animals!
